        anonymous

Each human being is born as something new, Something that never existed before. He is born with that he needs to win at life, Each person in his own way can see, hear, touch, teaste and think for himself. Each has his own unique potentials his capabilities and limitations, Each can be significant; thinking, aware and creatively productive person in his own right a winner.

Few people are one hundred percent winners or one hundred present losers, It is a matter of degree, However, One a person is on the road to being a winner, his chances are greater for becoming even more so. Winners have different potentials. Achievement is not the most important thing, Authenticity is the authentic person experiences therealty of himself by knowing himself, being himself, and becoming a credible, responsive person. He actualizes his own unprecedented uniqueness and appreciates the uniqueness of others.

A winner can be spontaneous, He does not have to respond inpredetermind, right ways, He can changes his plans when the situation calls for it. A winner has a zest for life. He enjoys work, play, food, other peoples, sex and the world of nature. Without guilt he enjoys his own accomplishments, Without envy he enjoys the accomplishments of others.

Although a winner can freely enjoy himself, he can also postpone enjoyment; He can discipline himself in the present to enhance his enjoyment in the future. He is not afraid to go after what he wants but does so inappropriate way. He does not get his security by contrlling others; He does not set himself up to lose.

A winner cares about the world and its peoples. He is not isolated from the general problems of society. He is concerned, compassionate, and committed to improving the quality of life. Even in the face of national and international adversity, he does what he can to make the world a better place.

Although people are born to win, they are also born helpless and totally dependent on their environment. Winner successfully makes the transition from total helpless to independence and then to interdependence. Losers do not somewhere along the line; they began to avoid becoming self-responsible.

Few people are total winners or losers, Most of their lives and losers in others. Their winning or losing is influenced by what happens to them in childhood.

                                    How to Avoid Foolish Opinions:
To avoid the various foolish opinions to which mankind is prone, no superhuman genius is required. A few simple rules will keep you, not from all errors, but from silly errors. lf the matter is one that can be settled by observation, make the observation yourself. Aristotle could have avoided the mistake of thinking that women have fewer teeth than men, by the simple device of asking Mrs. Aristotle to keep her mouth open while he counted. He did not do so because he thought he knew. Thinking that you know when in fact you don't is a fatal mistake, to which we are all prone. I believe myself that hedgehogs eat black beetles, because I have been told that they do; but if I were writing a book on the habits of hedgehogs, I should not commit myself until I had seen one enjoying this unappetizing diet.
Aristotle, however, was less cautious. Ancient and medieval authors knew all about unicorns and salamanders; not one of them thought it necessary to avoid dogmatic statements about them because he had never seen one of them.
Many matters, however, are less easily brought to the test of experience. If, like most of mankind, you have passionate convictions on many such matters, there are ways in which you can make yourself aware of your own bias. lf an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If someone maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. The most savage controversies are those about matters as to which there is no good evidence either way. Persecution is used in theology, not in arithmetic,
because in arithmetic there is knowledge, but in theology there is only opinion. So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your
guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants.

When a gir leaves her home at eighteen, she does one of two
things. Either she falls into saving hands and becomes better, or she
rapidly assumes the cosmopolitan standard of the and becomes worse.
Of an intermediate balance, under the circumstances, there is no possibility.
The city has its cunning wiles, no less than the infinitely smallerand more human tempter. There are large forces which allure with allthe soulfulness of expression possible in the most cultured human. Thegleam of a thousand lights is often as effective as the persuasive ligh ina wooing and fescinating eye. Half the undoing of the unsophisticated and natural mind is accomphshed by forces wholly superman. A the of sound, a roar of life, a vast array of human hives, appeal to the astonished senses in equivocal terms. Withou a counsellor at hand to whisper cauhous interpretations, what falsehoods may not these things breathe into the unguarded ear! Unrecognized for what they are, their beauty, like music, too often relaxes, then weakens, then perverts the simpler human perceptions. (Theodore Dreiser: sister Carrie)

的习惯;自and the threads which bound...broken的切分拆译,及时果断,不然,语句就会显得冗长拖沓。 Half the undoing of the unsophisticated and natural mind...和There are large forced which allure with all the soulfulness of expression possible in the most cultured human

Youth    Samuel Erman

Youth is not a matter or rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions, it is freshness of the deep spring of life.
Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exits in a man of 60 more than a boy of years,we grow old by deserting our ideas.
Youth may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.
Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being's heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what's next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young.
When the aerials are down, and your spirits is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you've grown old, even at 20, but as long as your aerials are up, to catch waves of optimism, there's hope may die young at 80.

                                                                            Paradox of Our Times
                                                                                                                        Olga scheel
We have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, but less time; we have more degrees, but less common sense; more knowledge, but less judgement; more experts, but more problems; more medicine, but less wellness.
We spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get to angry too quickly, stay up too late, get up too tired, read the little, Watch TV too often, and Pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our Possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love the little and lie too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life; we've added years to life, not life to years.
We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy it less.

We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor. We've conquered outer space, but not inner space. We've split the atom, but not our prejudice; we write mere, but learn less; plan more but accomplish less.
We've learned to rush, but not to wait; we have higher incomes, but lower morals. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce mere Copies, but have less communication. We are long on quantity, but short on quality.
These are the times fast foods and slow digestion; tall men and short character; steep profits and shallow relationships. More leisure and less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition; two income, but more divorce; fancier, but broken homes.
